    Frequently Asked Questions

What does an I.T. strategy consultant actually deliver?

A documented picture of what you have today, a ranked list of risks and gaps, and a sequenced roadmap tying each recommended project to a business outcome and a budget number. The deliverable is something your leadership can approve and fund — not a verbal list of suggestions.

How is this different from vCIO services?

The strategy engagement produces the assessment and roadmap. Our vCIO service is the ongoing relationship that executes and revisits it each quarter as budgets, headcount, and requirements change. Many organizations start with the assessment and move into vCIO once the roadmap is approved.

How long does an assessment take?

Most assessments for organizations under 100 users take two to four weeks from kickoff to roadmap presentation, depending on how many locations and systems are in scope and how quickly we can get access to current documentation.

Do we have to switch I.T. providers to get a roadmap?

No. The assessment and roadmap stand on their own, and some clients use them to hold an existing provider accountable. If you later want us to execute the plan, the roadmap becomes the basis for the managed services agreement.

How do you plan I.T. budgets?

We separate recurring operating costs — licensing, support, security tooling — from capital projects like workstation refresh, server replacement, or cabling, then spread the capital items across fiscal years so there is no surprise year where everything ages out at once.
